Tennessee Lawmaker Dies

Senior lawmaker Lois DeBerry, 68, who served as a Tennessee representative, died on Sunday after almost five years of battling pancreatic cancer. Initially elected in 1972, DeBerry was the longest-serving member of the state House of Representatives and is the second African-American woman to serve in Tennessee’s General Assembly. (Photo: AP Photo/Mark Humphrey, File)
