Downtown New Orleans is thriving again, a visual sign of progression since the city was hit by Hurricane Katrina eight years ago, when many lost their homes and family members in the disaster. Revitalization has cost an estimated $150 billion and 80 percent of the pre-storm population has returned, according to the city. (Photo: REUTERS/Lee Celano)
