Mormon Church Explains Past Ban on Black Pastors

The Mormon Church lifted a ban against priests of African descent in 1978, but until yesterday they never gave reasons for it. The institution says the ban was put in place during an era of “racial divide.” They also “disavow” any past teachings that Black people are inferior and that mixed-race relationships are a sin.
