National Museum of African Art Receives $1.8 Million

The Smithsonian National Museum of African Art received $1.8 million from the Sultanate of Oman Tuesday. The money will fund a collaborative educational initiative called "Connecting the Gems of the Indian Ocean: From Oman to East Africa." The seven-figure donation is the largest the institution has ever been given in its history.
