Miami Police and Mayor Sued for Harassing Black Suburb - Eleven residents of Miami Gardens, a predominantly Black Florida neighborhood, filed federal civil rights lawsuits against the mayor and police department of Miami Gardens. The plaintiffs cited aggressive police tactics, including stop-and-frisk searches and arbitrary arrests, targeting African-Americans in the suit. Miami Gardens Police Hit With Racial Profiling Lawsuit - Ali Amin Saleh, a convenience store owner, has filed a lawsuit against the city of Miami Gardens alleging a long history of police abuse and racial profiling against his Black customers and employees near his business. Earl Sampson, 28, who worked at Saleh’s Quikstop, has been arrested 62 times by police for trespassing at the store where he works as a clerk.
