Chicago Properties On Sale for One Dollar - Chicago has put hundreds of properties on sale for only one dollar. Qualified residents and nonprofits will be able to purchase vacant city-owned lots in the South Side Englewood neighborhood. “It’s designed to move vacant properties out of the city’s hands and into private ownership,”  Mayor Rahm Emanuel said in a statement. They confronted him and a healthy dialogue followed. “We really want you guys to protect and serve. As Black youth, we don’t feel we get that level of protection,” one student told the officer.
