Brooklyn D.A. Proposes to Limit Marijuana Prosecutions
Kenneth P. Thompson, the Brooklyn district attorney, will not prosecute people who are charged with possessing small amounts of marijuana, a policy proposal sent to the NYPD states. The new policy may help to combat the disparity that Black people are nine times as likely to be arrested for possessing marijuana than white people in Brooklyn and Manhattan.
