Central Park Five Sues New York for Additional $52 Million - The Central Park Five might have a few projects lined up to share their story and have a plan to give back to the community. The men are suing the state for an additional $52 million, the NY Daily News reported. Two of the men, Raymond Santana and Yusef Salaam, are hoping to open an advocacy center aimed at educating youth in Harlem on their rights, while also offering resources to recently released convicts. University of Iowa Students Want Change After KKK Art Display - A statue with a Ku Klux Klan robe displayed at the University of Iowa, without university permission, was removed hours after upsetting students on the campus. The African-American Council at the University of Iowa used the incident as a springboard for opening up the discussion of increasing the recruitment and hiring of minorities at the university, the AP reports. With Blacks making up just 3.5 percent of the freshmen class and an even lower 2.5 percent of the workforce, members of the university's African-American Council feel changes are in order. The statue that sparked the dialogue was put up by a visiting art professor who claims its purpose was to raise awareness about racism. Seattle Police Officer Won't Face Charges After Breaking Woman's Eye Socket - Seattle police officer Adley Shepherd will not face criminal charges for punching a woman during an arrest back in June, KTLA reports. Shepherd was responding to a domestic violence call when he arrested 23-year-old Miyekko Durden-Bosley. Durden-Bosley kicked the officer with her boot while in handcuffs and then he punched her, breaking her eye socket. The entire altercation was recorded on the police car's dashboard cam. The 23-year-old was reported missing over the weekend by his mom after not being seen since Thanksgiving. His body was found in the River Des Peres.
