It has also been reported that Dr. Jan Adams, pictured above in a 2006 booking photo from the L.A. County Sheriff's Dept. following a DUI arrest, is not even certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and that his surgery on Dr. West for an alleged tummy tuck and breast augmentation took almost twice as long as what’s considered normal.

Additionally, Adams, who has appeared in the past as a guest on the Oprah Winfrey show, has received six-figure medical malpractice judgments against him. He denies any wrongdoing in Dr. West’s procedure.

Donda West reportedly went against a doctor’s advice to see a specialist before having the procedures performed surgery, and later died after being taken from her home to a hospital in L.A. on Saturday. Get the full story here.

The exact complications and cause of her death are still not known.

Dr. West, 58, was a faculty member and chair of the English department at Chicago State University, where she served 31 years before retiring to help manage her son’s career. In May, she released a book about her experience bring up her multi-platinum recording artist son, Raising Kanye: Life Lessons from the Mother of a Hip Hop Superstar.
