Magnolia Stringer, the mother of 8-year-old girl Joann Bell (pictured above), tells KSLA-TV in Shreveport that a beef between her daughter and an unidentified 13-year-old girl, which began at school Thursday, escalated into a fight in their neighborhood.
Shreveport Police Officer Chris Hicks said Lewis Stringer, the 21-year-old uncle of the 8-year-old apparently broke up the fight, but it was the uncle of the 13-year-old girl, who police didn't identify, who was unhappy about the fight being broken up.
He come back with a large group of people, produced a handgun and shot the victim," said Hicks.
Some witnesses told police that relatives of the older girl banged on the front door after the fight until Lewis Stringer came outside. It was then that he was shot in the leg.
So far, no arrests have been made.
This is the fourth shooting in Shreveport in three days.
