News| Law | 'I Forgive My Husband,' Bynum Says
Posted Sept. 6, 2007 – TV evangelist Juanita Bynum, in her first public appearance Tuesday evening, told her viewers that “I forgive my husband and wish him the best” but said it is too early to say if she would be hooking back up with the man accused of beating, kicking and stomping her in an Atlanta parking lot two weeks ago.
Relationships are what they are. Relationships have their difficult moments. And until that night in the parking lot, I recognized it was just going to be a difficult moment – that this was a crisis.

Bynum, who declined to say how long and how often she had been abused by her husband, Bishop Thomas Weeks III, with whom she founded Global Destiny International Center, Atlanta’s NBC 11 Alive reported.
Weeks has been charged with felony aggravated assault, terrorist threats and simple battery against his Bynum; he is free after posting bail of $40,000.
Bynum said she now recognizes her responsibility to speak out against domestic abuse and will be the "new face of domestic violence.”
She said, “I believe domestic violence will be my new mantle. There is no way that I can just diminish this to just an isolated incident. This has changed my life forever.
