Was the Princeton-Hampton Game About More Than Final Score?

Posted Oct. 10, 2007 – When historically Black Hampton University's Pirates defeated Princeton University’s Tigers over the weekend, they made history.  It’s first time that an Ivy League school has ever lost to a Black college. In the only other meeting between an Ivy League institution and an HBCU, Yale beat Morgan State 41 to 0 in 1984.

So what was the purpose of the Hampton, Princeton match?

Gary Walters, Princeton’s athletic director, tells USA Today that he wanted his players to have a “cultural education experience” they wouldn’t normally have.
