Posted Feb. 27, 2008 – Does rapper Jay-Z support Black slavery? It seems unlikely, since he's probably a slave's descendant, and since he recently visited Africa to help provide poor people there with clean water sources.

But a Brooklyn activist has nonetheless named Jay, developer Bruce Ratner and Barclays bank in a $5 billion lawsuit seeking slave reparations, connected with a planned NBA stadium.
Jay-Z, part owner of the New Jersey Nets, developer Ratner and Barclays are all involved with a Brooklyn land project that will be the site of apartments and the Nets’ new home court.
Activist Clive Campbell, however, claims that Barclays profited from the Atlantic slave trade and continues to cash in through its partnership with Jay-Z. Ratner and Jay-Z worked “in concert” with the bank, Campbell alleges.
The suit argues that the Nets’ new stadium would reflect gains from a “conspiracy dating back hundreds of years” and continue exploitation from slave labor.
