Klansman-Convict Calls Steele a ‘Racist’

Published February 4, 2009

Ex-convict-Ku Klux Klansman David Duke, the former Republican member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, says the new African-American chief of the GOP is a “racist” and an “Obama Jr.,” who will run “rank-and-file” Republicans out of the party.

Michael Steele, who formerly served as the lieutenant governor of Maryland, is the first Black person chosen to head the Republican Party, of which Duke was a longtime member. But according to Duke, he will be the ruin of the party, said the 59-year-old White nationalist and former Grand Wizard, who called Steele a "radical Black racist" and "servile dog of Israel."

"As a former Republican official, I can tell you that millions of rank-and-file Republicans are mad as hell and aren’t going to take it anymore! We will either take the Republican Party back over the next four years or we will say, ‘To Hell With the Republican Party!’ And we will take 90 percent of Republicans with us into a New Party that will take its current place!”

Duke, who is remembered being photographed in a Nazi uniform, says he is not an anti-Semite, but his Web site shows derogatory images of Jews and denies that the Holocaust ever existed.
