In the end, they were all still the children of Regine and Vronze Revelus. So even after their now-dead son cut off their 5-year-old daughter's head and stabbed her 17-year-old sister to death, the parents chose to bury the three together.
"They are still dealing with the shock and disbelief of losing three of their children," lawyer Ernst Guerrier tells the Associated Press.
The Haitian family and their suburban Massachusetts neighbors were devastated over the weekend when Kerby Revelus, 23, decapitated Bianca Revelus and fatally wounded Samantha Revelus before he was shot to death by cops. Revelus was reportedly going after a third sibling, 9-year-old Saraphina, as she called 911.
Police say they won't release audio of the emergency call out of sensitivity to the girl and her surviving family members. She is recovering from defensive wounds suffered when she shielded herself from her brother's knife.
There was nothing in the son's background or recent behavior to suggest he was a danger to his family, Gurrier says. A grandmother who lives at the home in Milton is said to have been in another part of the house doing laundry while the horrific murders took place.
Police haven't found a motive, though they say Kerby Revelus had a fistfight with a neighbor a day before slaughtering his siblings.
He served two earlier stints in jail as a teenager after being charged with battery after fighting, and again after carrying a concealed weapon.
The siblings' burial was planned for Saturday.
