Wyclef, Timberland Join Forces to Assist Haiti Through Social Media

Grammy award winning musician and philanthropist, Wyclef Jean has teamed up with hiking boot company Timberland in an effort to raise environmental awareness in his native country, Haiti. Timberland recently introduced the Earthkeeper program, a coalition of individuals dedicated to environmental and social activism; Wyclef will be one of six "Earthkeeper Heroes" for Timberland.

The partnership will be a multi-platform effort incorporating Timberland products, digital and social media, service events, music, and concerts that will promote environmental awareness.

There will be a digital push calling for donations to Wyclef's foundation, Yéle Haiti. The foundation aims to support the impoverished country through education, health, environment and community development.

Through social media sites like Twitter, YouTube, Myspace, Facebook, imeem, and Social Vibe, Timberland and Wyclef plan to mobilize users to "Join the Movement" for assisting Haiti.
