Police to Arrest Suspect in Jasper Howard's UCONN Stabbing Today

Police are expected to arrest a suspect today in connection with the stabbing death of a University of Connecticut football player at a school dance last weekend.

 However, Deron Freeman, the attorney representing the suspect, contends that his client is not the one who stabbed Jasper Howard, although he was present when the incident occurred. Freeman has declined to disclose his client’s name.

 He said that police showed up at his client’s home with a search warrant, took some items away informed him that they would return some time today to arrest him.

(Police) have indicated to me that they expect to get a warrant for his arrest," he said. "I'm not sure if I would say that he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, but I could say that he was not involved in the actual stabbing of Mr. Howard.

On Monday, police arrested another man, Johnny Hood, 21, of Hartford, on charges of interfering with an officer and breach of peace. He has not been accused of being involved in Howard's death, however. Police said that Hood gave a false name when he was questioned.
