A young Muslim woman is fighting for her life after her father mowed down she and her friend because he believed they had become “too Westernized,” police near Phoenix, Ariz., said.
Authorities in Peoria, Ariz., are searching for the father, 48-year-old Faleh Hassan Almaleki, whom they say struck his daughter, Noor Faleh Almaleki, and friend Amal Edan Khalaf with his car as they walked through a parking lot on Tuesday. Noor and Amal live together.
Noor Faleh Almaleki, 20, suffered life-threatening injuries, while Khalaf, 43, was in good condition at an area hospital, according to CNN.
Faleh Hassan Almaleki was angry with his daughter "as she had become too 'Westernized' and was not living according to [the family's] traditional Iraq[i] values," Peoria Police said in a statement released Wednesday.
