Video: Filmmaker Janks Morton Stands Up for Black Boys

Men II Boys Film & Lecture Tour is bringing together people who live, work and have contact with boys of color including members of the community; faith and community based organizations; educators; government agencies; and young men. “Men II Boys” screenings are followed by a community discussion led by Janks Morton.

The Tour is a powerful and inspirational movement providing the platform to organize communities and mobilize resources to: 1) encourage positive male involvement in boys lives through mentoring and reconnecting; 2) educate single moms and those living and working with boys about the importance of positive males; 3) provide young men with a foundation to build on; 4) raise awareness of issues relevant to males of color and 5) forgiveness.

Men II Boys," produced and directed by award winning documentarian and Founder/CEO of iYAGO Entertainment, Janks Morton, is a 44-minute film featuring men from all walks of life, delivering words of wisdom or jewels, as a resource for boys and young men as they ascend to manhood.  The film stems from the fact that over 82 per cent of black children do not have daily contact with their biological fathers.

With 69.7 per cent out of wedlock birthrate and a divorce rate in excess of 50 per cent too many young boys of color do not have access to the time honored tradition of Father to Son inter-relation,” says Morton. "Men II Boys is a movement to encourage these relationships which are critical in the development of boys of color.

For the first time in the history of Black African American Cinema, a film is being utilized as a community organizing tool in conjunction with congress, to unite stakeholder in connecting Fathers, and Mentors to young men of Color. Congressman Elijah E. Cummings launched this national dialogue, during the Annual Legislative Conference presented by the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation.  CBC follows a series of life changing screenings and community discussions hosted nationwide that have included Chicago, IL; Baltimore, MD; and Philadelphia, PA.  The Men II Boys Film and Lecture Tour has reached thousands as it travels the country with this message of hope and optimism.

This cinematic resource provides the foundation for young men, single parents and families struggling to bridge the gap of communication left by the fracture of the Black Family.  For more information and to view the trailer visit www.MenToBoys.com.
