Iverson Could Resurface in Philly
Allen Iverson, the last baller to lead the Philadelphia Sixers in a serious bid for a national title, could be returning to the team, The Associated Press reports.
Sixers head coach Eddie Jordan has acknowledged that he is at least intrigued in the free agent guard – a scoring dynamo who recently announced his potential retirement from the league – and Philly news sources are blasting reports that team brass have been trying to work out a deal. The question now is whether the city that sent him packing unceremoniously in 2006 will show him some brotherly love in 2009.
Playing down the hype on Sunday, Jordan skirted the issue, saying the speculation is "probably more in the media than it actually is.
However, the facts remain: The Sixers’ leading guard, Lou Williams, just went down for eight weeks with an injury, and the team could use another bona fide weapon, especially a 10-time All-Star who’s poured in 27 points per game over his 13-year career.
