High School Rape Suspects Plead Not Guilty
The six people accused of raping a 15-year-old girl in an alley at a Bay-Area California high pleaded not guilty Tuesday, police said.
In late October, during a homecoming dance at Richmond High School, at least 10 people gang-raped the girl while another dozen or so watched without helping or dialing 911, according to authorities.
Following the two-hour ordeal, the young victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition. She was just released last Wednesday.
The six suspects are scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Jan. 21, according to the Contra Costa County district attorney. A seventh suspect was released for lack of evidence, police said.
