There’s no question that the Verizon Droid by Motorola is the smartphone to have. I mean there has to be a reason that Time magazine named it “gadget of the year.” With that said, premium gadgets cost premium dough, and with pockets being tighter than skinny jeans this year, you might want to consider an alternative form of tech bling.
Motorola proudly introduces the Devour, a.k.a., the Motorola Calgary, a.k.a a cheaper, but nonetheless cool version of the smartphone. Touted as the Droid’s little brother, the Devour A555 is a toned down version of this year’s must-have gadget, but still has the Android OS that everyone loves.
The Devour comes with a three-megapixel camera and will come with a smaller display. It will run Android 2.1 and will be one of the first Motorola handsets to have MOTOBLUR. If you’re not familiar, MOTOBLUR is Motorola’s snazzy new service that syncs all your content – photos, Twitter feed, Facebook, RSS into one place. It also comes with a fully customizable homepage to truly make the phone your own.
No word on pricing or release date, but don’t be too surprised to see the Devour hit stores sometime in Q1 or Q2 with all the Nexus One Hype.
