Ex-Hospital Worker in Houston Is Going to Jail
HOUSTON (AP) — A five-year prison term has been ordered for a Houston-area hospital worker who pleaded guilty in a fraud and patient ID theft case.
A federal judge on Wednesday sentenced 30-year-old Nakeshia Brown of Houston.
Brown in August pleaded guilty to bank fraud and aggravated identity theft.
She worked approximately five years as a patient care assistant in the Memorial Hermann healthcare system.
Prosecutors say Brown admitted using her job to steal printouts of patient medical records and use the personal data to apply for credit cards in the names of the victims, but for her benefit.
