The New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) Young Artist Talent Search

Auditions for more than 400 openings in five arts training programs are scheduled for Saturday, March 13 and Sunday, March 14, 2010 at NJPAC’s Center for Arts Education on the NJPAC site in Downtown Newark.  Last year, nearly 600 young artists from every corner of the State and throughout the Metropolitan-area auditioned during the Talent Search weekend.

Auditions will be held for Wachovia Jazz for Teens, the Summer Youth Performance Workshop, the Jeffrey Carollo Music Scholarship, and the Young Artist Institute.  Preliminary auditions will also be held for the NJPAC/NJYT (New Jersey Youth Theatre) Summer Musical Program production of RENT.  Detailed information about each of these programs may be obtained by calling the Young Artist Talent Search Hotline at (973) 353-8009 or online at www.njpac.org.

Initiated nine years ago, the weekend event, made possible through the generosity of Bank of America and the Independence Community Foundation, attracts the area’s finest young artists in the disciplines of vocal music, musical theater, instrumental music, theater and dance.

Audition applications may be obtained online at www.njpac.org <http://www.njpac.org/>  or by calling the Young Artist Talent Search Hotline, 973-353-8009.  Applications must be accompanied by a $20 registration fee.  NJPAC’s Arts Education Department will offer FREE workshops on February
