Poll results: Kenyans to pass new constitution

NAIROBI, Kenya – Two new opinion polls show Kenya is likely to vote in favor of a new constitution next month.

One poll released Friday found 65 percent intend to vote yes, while 25 percent will vote no. Ten percent were undecided. The poll conducted in-person interviews of 2,500 people. The margin of sampling error was plus or minus 2 percentage points.

A second poll found 58 percent intend to vote yes, while 22 percent would vote no. The rest were undecided. The poll conducted in-person interviews of 6,000 people. The margin of sampling error was plus or minus 1.6 percent.

The U.S. favors a new constitution as part of reforms following violence after the country's 2007 presidential vote.
