COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The state says it fired a youth prison guard after he posted racial slurs on Facebook aimed at black co-workers and black Ohio juvenile inmates.
A Department of Youth Services investigation also determined that guard Matthew Azzano posted a threatening comment about staff that made a reference to "hunting season."
The 33-year-old Azzano was hired in 2008 and worked at the Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH'-guh) Hills Juvenile Correctional Facility in northeast Ohio.
Azzano, who is white, acknowledged to investigators that he made the comments and explained he has anger management issues.
Azzano's phone has been disconnected and he could not be reached for comment.
