Without his permission Taco Bell issued a commercial campaign asking if the rapper would change his name to 79, 89 or 99 Cent. Taco Bell said it was a joke but Jackson wanted to be paid for his name usage.

Tyler Perry Donates $1Million to NAACP - In recognition of its 100th Anniversary, director and actor Tyler Perry will give $1million to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) The donation will be paid during a four-year period.

Jesse Jackson Backpedals from 'Black Man' comments - After stating that Rep. Artur Davis (D-Alabama) could not vote against health care legislation and call himself a Black man, Jesse Jackson backed away from his controversial comments. Davis who is running for governor in his home state voted against the house version of the federal health care bill. Jackson said while disagreeing with his vote, he respects and admires Davis as a leader.

Coast Guard Down on Black Recruitment - Efforts to increase the number of African-Americans in the U.S Coast Guard are not working. With only four Blacks graduating the academy in 2009, Congress has proposed legislation allowing the body to nominate Americans to the academy.

South Carolina Gov. Faces 37 Ethic Violations - South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford faces 37 ethic violations including several in relation to the usage of state assets to facilitate a sexual relationship with a woman other than his wife. The violations are not criminal charges and will be processed through the state ethic commission.
