D.C. Council Votes for Medical Marijuana - D.C.’s city council passed a measure to legalize medical marijuana Tuesday, sending the bill to Mayor Adrian Fenty. Under the measure, patients with chronic illnesses such as AIDS or cancer could obtain marijuana with a doctor’s recommendation at five to eight distribution centers. If the mayor signs the bill, as he is expected to, Congress would have 30 days to review before it becomes law.

The president, Alice Huffman, says it's backing the initiative to counter marijuana arrest rates she says unfairly target Blacks. But preachers in the state are not happy with the group’s decision, saying that illicit drugs have a negative impact on the Black community.

Larry King to Retire - Longtime CNN nightly talk show host, Larry King, announced via Twitter on Tuesday that he will be retiring this fall. “It’s time to hang up my nightly suspenders,” he said in the message. This year is his 25th as a CNN host; he currently is in the Guinness Book of World Records for hosting the longest-running show on the same network in the same time slot. He's conducted an estimated 50,000 interviews during a 53-year broadcasting career. King said he will do occasional specials.

He claims he suffered severe leg injuries after a drunk Sean Bell got behind the wheel of a car after leaving his bachelor party in 2006. According to Carey, this happened before the hail of police gunfire killed the unarmed Bell. His suit was filed last week in response to a wrongful death suit brought by Bell's family.

Drake Postpones Tour - Drake is postponing his European tour to be with his mom in Canada as she undergoes surgery. In a statement, the rapper said he wants to support his mother during her recovery “just as she supported me through the years.” No word on what the surgery is. The 10-city European tour was supposed to start Friday in Norway, but has been rescheduled for November. His Canadian tour is still on though, and it’s set to start July 16 in Ottawa.
