Jobs Report - Last Friday, the president, flanked by cabinet members, delivered his monthly statement on employment statistics in the White House Rose Garden. The unemployment rate rose from 9.5 percent to 9.6 percent in August. But private employers added 67,000 jobs that same month; more than 20,000 more than had been expected.

New Obama Book - “Obama’s Wars,” the latest work from top-notch investigative reporter Bob Woodward (who was also one of the reporters who broke the Watergate scandal in the 1970s), is slated to be released at the end of this month. The non-fiction book will show the president “making critical decisions on the Afghanistan War, the secret war in Pakistan and the worldwide fight against terrorism,” publisher Simon & Schuster announced Tuesday.

"60 Minutes" - Could cable news cycles be to blame for the angry outbursts at last month’s town hall meetings? In a “60 Minutes” interview that aired Sunday, the president said, “The truth of the matter is that there has been, I think, a coarsening of our political dialogue … I will also say that in the era of 24-hour cable news cycles, that the loudest, shrillest voices get the most attention. And so one of the things that I’m trying to figure out is: How can we make sure that civility is interesting?”

Cleveland Visit - On Wednesday, the president will head to Cleveland, Ohio to talk about the economy’s progress. In addition, he’ll discuss his proposals for the future, which include extending tax cuts for the middle class and investing for potential job growth.

White House Meetings - The President will hold meetings at the White House on Friday.

Business Council Meeting - The president will address the Business Council’s annual meeting on Tuesday in Washington, D.C. During his remarks, he’ll talk about what his administration is doing to push job creation and the role that the business community plays.

Press Conference - On Friday, one day before the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, President Obama will take questions from reporters at a press conference at the White House. This marks the president’s eighth solo press conference since he took office last year.
