Mrs. O's Monday - Monday, first lady Michelle Obama traveled to Miami, Fla., to see her Let’s Move! initiative in action! The Riverside Elementary School has been improving the quality of students’ lives by improving school nutrition, instituting school gardens, salad bars and youth recreational involvement. She’ll be joined by chefs from the Chefs Move to Schools initiative, a group of professional culinary artists who are showing schools how to use a salad bar to increase students’ nutrition.

Tuesday - On Tuesday, President Obama and the Vice President Joe Biden will travel to Kokomo, Indiana, as part of the White House to Main Street tour. The city of Kokomo was hit hard by the recession; its bad economic fortune was magnified by a major lay-off by a plant that is one of the city’s main employers. They’re now recovering thanks to the Recovery Act.

Wednesday - Turkey Mercy - On Wednesday, President Obama will show a little mercy for a turkey. He’ll pardon the National Thanksgiving Turkey in a ceremony in the Rose Garden at the White House. President Obama will recognize the 63-year-old tradition by giving his remarks on its importance, and the American values that Thanksgiving represents.

Thursday - Thursday, the president will get to stuff himself with turkey and gravy instead of politics and policy. President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama will celebrate Thanksgiving at the White House, and give back to the community by volunteering.
