Rangel is Censured
In late November, the House of Representatives voted 333-79 that veteran Harlem lawmaker Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY) should be censured for ethics violations, becoming just the 23rd member of the House ever to receive such a punishment. The misconduct includes failing to pay all of his taxes and improperly seeking corporate money for a college center bearing his name. Before being formerly censured by House Speaker Pelosi, Rangel appealed for leniency.
