Allen West Is Calling People Names Again

Rep. West says Vice President Joe Biden is "nutty," Obama is a "Marxist" and he needs a bucket when thinking of Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

Rep. Allen West is at it again. In a game of free association, the Florida Republican had some not-so-nice things to say about President Obama, Vice President Biden and fellow Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who chairs the Democratic National Committee.

Houston radio host Michael Berry instructed West, who was a guest on his eponymous show Wednesday, to be “undiplomatic and unscripted, which you typically are,” as he ticked off some names, Broward-Palm Beach New Times reports. West said that Biden is “nutty” and “mindless” and in response to Wasserman Schultz’s name, he said, “I need a bucket.”

It’s not the first time that West has spoken unkindly about her. In July he sent her a scathing email in which he called her “vile, unprofessional and despicable.” He told Berry that was using “psychological intimidation” in response to her allegedly calling for a “riot” outside of West’s campaign headquarters.

As for the president, West said that Obama is intentionally trying to ruin the economy so that he can then implement a Marxist system.

“It is intentional because this is who the president is. The president is a Marxist because he believes in the separation of classes. We have never heard a president in the United States of America speak as he [does],” West said. “And when you have a national leader that demonizes a certain segment of society and attacks them, it has never ended up well, and yet, that’s what we have. He is a socialist because he believes in nationalizing production. You think about what has happened with the financial industry, automobile industry, health care industry.”

Washington Monthly columnist Steve Benen gave West props for using a phrase like “nationalizing production,” but said that “he still sounds like an unhinged wackjob if he believes President Obama in any way resembles a ‘Marxist.’”
