The Newark mayor's options are governor, U.S. Senate or just staying put.
Will he or won't he? In the past few months, political spectators have wondered whether the Democratic rising star, Newark's Mayor Cory Booker, will challenge Republican superstar New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie in 2013.
Now, the mayor's not even certain.
"The reality is Sandy has pushed my timeline back," Booker said on his monthly radio program on WBGO, The Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Booker, who has developed a bit of a reputation as a "superhero" for saving a neighbor from a burning building and offering shelter in his home in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, is viewed as the Democrat "best-positioned" to beat Christie.
The publication also reports that Booker has spoken frequently with state Democratic leaders and also will be seeking the counsel of family and advisers. He's expected to announce if he's running by mid-December. There is also speculation about whether he may run for the Senate in 2014.
"The job I love is the one I've got right now," Booker said on his radio program. "I feel blessed to be serving where I am right now and that's going to be a factor in my decision-making."
