Do African-Americans really care about Kwanzaa? Not according to Wisconsin State Sen. Glenn Grothman, who recently slammed it as a fake holiday created by a "violent nut" to "divide America." He's also really angry that the annual cultural celebration is being taught in some of his state's school districts, which he described as irresponsible.

"Why must we still hear about Kwanzaa?" the Republican lawmaker asked in a press release, Shorewood Patch reports. "Why are hard-core left wingers still trying to talk about Kwanzaa — the supposed African-American holiday celebration between Christmas and New Year's?"

Grothman believes that "almost no Black people today care about Kwanzaa — just white left-wingers who try to shove this down Black people’s throats in an effort to divide Americans," It needs to be "slapped down," he added.

Meg Moen, a local Democratic Party official, called Grothman's remarks "jaw dropping."

"Not only does Sen. Grothman seem to find his inherent racism acceptable, he implores people to follow his lead and question a holiday that African-Americans have been celebrating for years," she said.
