NRA Targets Obama Children in New Ad

The National Rifle Association's membership may be up, but has the organization reached a new low? The NRA has released a new, provocative ad that uses President Obama's children to promote the idea of armed guards in schools.

“Are the president’s kids more important than yours?” a narrator asks. “Then why is he skeptical about putting armed security in our schools when his kids are protected by armed guards at their school? Mr. Obama demands the wealthy pay their fair share of taxes, but he’s just another elitist hypocrite when it comes to a fair share of security.”

The president is set to unveil today a series of proposals submitted by Vice President Joe Biden's gun control taskforce. It is unlikely that installing armed guards in schools will be included. In a recent interview on NBC's Meet the Press, Obama said he was "skeptical" that it would help solve the problem of school shootings and surmised that a "vast majority" of Americans are, too.

"I am skeptical that the only answer is putting more guns in schools, and I think the vast majority of the American people are skeptical that that somehow is going to solve our problem," Obama said. "And, look, here's the bottom line. We're not going to get this done unless the American people decide it's important."

But, in a new Washington Post/ABC News poll, 55 percent of Americans said they support the NRA's armed school guards proposal.
