Add "war criminal" to the list of unflattering names professor Cornel West has called President Obama. During Thursday's Smiley & West radio program on PRI, West criticized the administration's use of drones overseas to kill terrorist suspects in places like Afghanistan and Yemen.

"We've been talking about this for a good while, the immorality of drones, dropping bombs on innocent people. It's been over 200 children so far. These are war crimes," West said. "Let us not be deceived — Nixon, Bush, Obama, they're war criminals. They have killed innocent people in the name of the struggle for freedom, but they're suspending the law, very much like Wall Street criminals. The law is suspended for them, but the law applies for the rest of us."

Drones are unmanned aerial vehicles controlled from the ground and are used for reconnaissance and surveillance or to drop missiles and bombs.

The administration has been under fire lately from civil liberties and other groups for, as Tavis Smiley put it, essentially having a "license to kill" Americans suspected of being terrorists without due process in the courts and for drone strikes on innocent bystanders.

Members of Congress also have criticized the administration over its secrecy surrounding the drone program.

West also said that if he or Smiley killed an innocent person, they'd be sent to jail "forever."
