Sen. Ted Cruz Says Nigerian Email Scammers Are Running Affordable Care Act Site

Sen. Ted Cruz jokes about technical problems plaguing the health care website.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is so opposed to the Affordable Care Act that he convinced fellow Republicans on the House side to shut down the federal government unless the law was defunded. Now he's making jokes about it, the Houston Chronicle reports.

At a Welcome Home reception in Houston Monday night, Cruz joined the chorus of critics of the technical glitches that have made it difficult for people to shop at the health insurance exchanges.

"You may have noticed that all the Nigerian email scammers have become a lot less active lately," he told a crowd of Tea Party supporters. "They all have been hired to run the Obamacare website."

Cruz said that the House Republicans who supported his insurgency "demonstrated a profile in courage" that was lacking on the Senate side of the Capitol. He also pledged to continue to fight the health care law.
