You've Got a Friend - Holder traveled to Ferguson on Aug. 20 to meet with residents, law enforcement and slain teenager Michael Brown's family.  "Our investigation into this matter will be full, it will be fair, and it will be independent," he wrote in an op-ed published that day in the St. Louis Dispatch. "Long after the events of Aug. 9 have receded from the headlines, the Justice Department will continue to stand with this community." (Photo: Pablo Martinez Monsivais-Pool/Getty Images)

Holder Shares a Story - Holder, now the nation's top cop, shared with students at St. Louis Community College his own unpleasant brushes with law enforcement. While heading to a movie in the U.S. capital's tony Georgetown neighborhood he was stopped by the police. At that time, he recalled, "I was a federal prosecutor. I wasn't a kid. I was a federal prosecutor. I worked at the United States Department of Justice,” he said, which left him feeling “angry and upset.” On another occasion, his car was searched on the New Jersey Turnpike. “I remember how humiliating that was and how angry I was,” he said. "I understand that mistrust. I am the attorney general of the United States. But I am also a Black man." (Photo: Pablo Martinez Monsivais-Pool/Getty Images)

A Reassuring Presence - While in Ferguson, Holder stopped by Drake's Restaurant to greet local residents. When asked whether he had confidence in the local investigation led by the St. Louis County prosecuting attorney, Johnson said, "General Holder, by being here, is a guarantee on that."    (Photo: Pablo Martinez Monsivais-Pool/Getty Images)

No Surrender - A visibly angry Obama condemned Islamic militants who brutally beheaded American journalist James Foley, which they also videotaped. ISIS “speaks for no religion. Their victims are overwhelmingly Muslim, and no faith teaches people to massacre innocents," he said. "No just god would stand for what they did yesterday and what they do every single day.” The president pledged to continue the airstrikes campaign in Iraq, but some are calling on him to do much more, and predict that Bush's war may soon become his.(Photo: Jacquelyn Martin/AP Photo)

Worse Than He Imagined - “I was not a big fan of the president’s policies, as you know, either domestically or internationally,” said failed presidential candidate Mitt Romney, while stumping for Republican candidates in West Virginia. Citing the U.S. economy and troubles abroad in such hot spots as Iraq, Syria and Russia, he added, “But the results of his mistakes and errors, in my opinion, have been more severe than even I would have predicted."(Photo: Paul Drinkwater/NBC/NBCU Photo Bank via Getty Images)

Doin' the Robot - Sen. John McCain isn't the only Washington lawmaker who can bust a move. During a Hamptons fundraiser for the Apollo Theater, the Arizona Republican did the robot with Jamie Foxx and was actually pretty good. All for a Good Cause - Obama has opted out of taking the viral ice bucket challenge to raise money for ALS research, but former President George W. Bush had no such luck. Hated It! - In an interview in a new edition of Live From New York, former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin says that Tina Fey's impressions of her on Saturday Night Live made her "look like an idiot," which she hated. Fey, she added, owes her. "You need to at least pay for my kids' braces or something from all the money that you made off of pretending that you're me! My goodness, you capitalized on that," Palin said she'd tell the actress if given a chance. (Photos from Left: Dana Edelson/NBC/NBCU Photo Bank via Getty Images, Frederick M. Brown/Getty Images)
