Arrest comes two days after Stevenson played a key role in helping Mavs win first NBA championship.
Dallas Mavericks guard DeShawn Stevenson, fresh off winning the NBA title, may have still be doing a little too much celebrating Tuesday night when he was arrested for public intoxication, according to a story on the Fort Worth Star-Telegram website on Wednesday.
Stevenson was arrested in Irving, Texas, when he was found by police wandering incoherently near some apartments late Tuesday night. According to the story, Stevenson didn’t know where he was when police questioned him.
He was arrested based on a field sobriety test and the statements he gave to police. He was later released on a $475 bond early Wednesday morning.
This comes on the heels of a dramatic NBA finals run over the Miami Heat in which Stevenson played a key role. His defense was huge in the series that saw the heavily favored Heat go down in six games.
And once the series was over, Stevenson made headlines by claiming Heat star LeBron James checked out during the series. There has never been much love lost between the two going back to the days when Stevenson played for the Washington Wizards and James with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
