Alonzo Mourning Cited for Leaving Scene of Accident

Alonzo Mourning must now answer charges for leaving the scene and not providing his information after the accident.

Former Miami Heat star Alonzo Mourning was charged with a misdemeanor related to a traffic accident last week in Miami Beach.

Mourning, who has retired from basketball, must now appear in court to answer to second-degree misdemeanor charges for leaving the scene of the accident and for not providing his contact and insurance information.

According to reports, Mourning was unable to avoid hitting a car that was already involved in a wreck on July 17. Mourning stopped but didn’t remain at the scene. He did return 40 minutes later, however.

At least one of the drivers has already filed a civil suit against Mourning, seeking unspecified damages.
