Colin Kaepernick Denies Sexual Assault Story
Colin Kaepernick says TMZ’s report Thursday about him being a suspect in a sexual assault case is wrong.
The San Francisco 49ers quarterback took to his Twitter account Friday morning to refute the celebrity news website’s story and thank fans who are supporting him.
“The charges made in the TMZ story and other stories I’ve seen are completely wrong,” Kaepernick wrote in a series of tweets. “They make things up about me that never happened."
"I take great pride in who I am and what I do, but I guess sometimes you have to deal with someone who makes things up."
"I want to thank all of the people who have shared their encouraging sentiments. I assure you that your faith is not misplaced."
TMZ and USA Today reported that the Miami Police Department have named Kaepernick a suspect in a sexual assault case, but then backtracked and said it was for a “suspicious incident.”
According to the police report issued by the Miami PD, and obtained by TMZ, the woman claims she went to the apartment of Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette to hang out with him, Kaepernick and 49ers wide receiver Quinton Patton. She says while she was naked in bed, Kaepernick left the bedroom and Lockette and Patton peeked inside. She claims the next thing she remembers is being woken in a hospital bed, but doesn’t remember how she got there.
No charges have been filed as the investigation continues.
