Floyd Mayweather spilled the beans on a rematch with Marcos Maidana during a BET Awards red carpet interview.

Although it has taken several days to formally be announced and booked, the rematch is now official. Mayweather-Maidana II — dubbed “Mayhem” is set for September 13 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena just four months after their explosive first meeting on May 3.

Mayweather (46-0, 26 knockouts) won their original meeting by majority decision, but not before Maidana (35-4, 31 KOs) constantly closed in on the undefeated champion’s space. Only after Mayweather adjusted in the seventh round, and created space for himself to land solid punches, was he declared the winner.

"Marcos Maidana is a tough customer and he gave me a fight that had me work for the victory," Mayweather said in a news release, as reported by ESPN. "His style is difficult at best, but with experience comes a way and will to win. I'm not one to give second chances in the ring, but I want to give the fans what they want to see. I will be as prepared as I always am when I step in the ring on Sept. 13. I only see the outcome one way and that's another successful night for me and my team."

Oscar De La Hoya will be promoting the Showtime card.

"There's no reason for Floyd and I not to be working together," De La Hoya said. "We don't have to be best of friends. But we don't have to be enemies or rivals or have issues. I'm glad that we came to terms and made this fight happen.”

This match will mark the second time in Mayweather’s illustrious career that he fights the same opponent in back-to-back bouts, having last done it against Jose Luis Castillo in April 2002 and December 2002.
