Prosecutors Claim Aaron Hernandez's Fiancée Lied to Grand Jury
As if Aaron Hernandez isn't in enough trouble already.
Now, prosecutors say they have evidence proving that Shayanna Jenkins, Hernandez's fiancée, lied to the grand jury that indicted the former New England Patriots tight end on the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd, the Associated Press is reporting. Prosecutors claim to have over a dozen instances in which their evidence contradicts Jenkins's testimony.
Included in those alleged contradictions is Jenkins's statement about discarding a box inside the basement of the North Attleborough, Massachusetts, home she shared with Hernandez. Jenkins told grand jurors she couldn't remember where she threw out the box. However, prosecutors state she put it in a trash bag covered with baby clothes before throwing it out.
Jenkins has already pleaded not guilty to perjury.
Meanwhile, Hernandez awaits the tentative Oct. 6 start of the murder trial of Lloyd. He has also received a May 28, 2015, tentative start date for a double murder trial of two Boston men that prosecutors allege Hernandez gunned down in a 2012 drive-by.
