Clippers forward's Instagram post leads to capture of suspected killer.
It's amazing how far a little social media awareness can go in this day and age. Matt Barnes now knows that all too well.
The Los Angeles Clippers small forward took to his Instagram account last week and twice posted a picture of the man, Michael Williams, suspected of murdering his beloved aunt.
Well, according to TMZ Sports, Barnes's posts may have helped, as Williams was captured by police in Sacramento on Tuesday thanks to a citizen's tip.
Upon hearing the news, Barnes was overjoyed.
"We are so grateful to everyone who helped us—from spreading the word through social media to calling the Sacremento PD with your citizen tips," Barnes told TMZ Sports. "It was a citizen tip that led police to Michael Williams' very location late [Tuesday morning]. Thank you again for allowing me to be my auntie's voice and to help bring this suspect in. Also, thank you to the Sac PD!"
Cops believe Williams stabbed Barnes's aunt to death on July 8th.
