Manny Pacquiao Agrees to Fight Floyd Mayweather

Awaits champ's response on proposed May 2 bout.

Boxing fans are seemingly halfway there to seeing the highly anticipated bout between
Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Pacquiao and his promoter, Top Rank, confirmed with ESPN on Tuesday night that Pacman has agreed to terms for a May 2 match with Mayweather. Now they await a response from the undefeated champion.

"Top Rank and Manny have agreed to the terms on our side. I don't know about the other side," Top Rank vice president Carl Moretti said.

As of Tuesday night, Yahoo Sports reported that Mayweather's camp has not responded.

Since late last year and early into 2015, Pacquiao has been the one pressing the issue about making the long-awaited fight between him and Mayweather happen.

The news of Pacquiao agreeing to fight Mayweather on May 2 is encouraging after a November report claimed that negotiations for the bout were heating up. ESPN even reported that Leslie Moonves, the president and CEO of CBS, is helping to iron out the fight with Top Rank chairman Bob Arum and Mayweather's adviser Al Haymon and that Pacquiao has even agreed to a 40 percent cut of the revenue.

Will the highly anticipated bout, which boxing fans have been yearning to see for well over six years, finally happen?
