Aaron Hernandez's Fiancée Granted Immunity in Exchange for Testimony

Shayanna Jenkins could now become prosecutors' star witness against ex-NFL star in murder trial.

Aaron Hernandez's fiancée and mother of his daughter, Shayanna Jenkins, was granted immunity in the ex-NFL star's murder trial Tuesday in exchange for testimony, ESPN learned from court documents.

This breaking news means that either Jenkins will cooperate with prosecutors and testify against Hernandez or refuse to answer questions and be held in contempt and be jailed. Jenkins has been loyal and by Hernandez's side throughout, but Tuesday's revelation could potentially spell a 180-degree turnaround.

All along, prosecutors alleged that Jenkins removed the gun, which was used in the shooting death of Odin Lloyd, from Hernandez's home and discarded it, making her someone with potentially-incriminating information. Jenkins has already been charged with perjury about lying to the grand jury about evidence in Lloyd's death.

Hernandez is on trial facing murder charges in the June 2013 homicide of Lloyd.
