Serena Williams's winning streak continues as the tennis champ has just snagged her eighth Miami Open crown yesterday (April 4).
According to CNN, Williams scored a dominant 6-2 6-0 win over Spain's Carla Suarez Navarro. Thanks to her quick, powerful and impressive shot tecnhique, the tennis icon's win was not at all suprising to viewers.
This particular win marked the 33-year-old's 66th Women's Tennis Association (WTA) tournament victory, which lasted a staggeringly brief 56 minutes at the Crandon Park Tennis Center. Even more, Williams joins an elite group of only 3 other players that have won the Open Era at least eight times or more.
After her win was officially announced, the World No. 1 ranked star posed with her beautiful new trophy, which she dedicated to her father, who was her former tennis coach: "I would like to dedicate this to my dad," she said. "He's not here. I miss him. I hope he's wathcing. I love you, daddy — this one's for you."
