NBPA Investigating Thabo Sefolosha's Arrest and Injury

The Hawks guard suffered a season-ending broken fibula, which went untreated overnight.

Following the release of a video showing the arrest and injury of Hawks guard Thabo Sefolosha, the National Basketball Players Association is investigating the events.

According to CBS Sports, the NBPA and the Hawks have been heavily surveying Sefolosha over the past 24 hours. The players's union is concerned about the circumstances surrounding the injury and is also doing its own individual investigation.

Sefolosha was arrested earlier this week, alongside Hawks center Pero Antic, reportedly for interfering with the crime scene following the stabbing of Indiana Pacers small forward Chris Copeland and his wife at a New York City nightclub early Wednesday (April 8) morning.

NBPA spokeswoman Tara Greco said, "The union was fully engaged in supporting all three players in court and in the precinct this week, and will continue to stay engaged as each situation evolves."

Police are being intensely questioned regarding their motives during the incident, as Sefolosha's broken fibula went untreated overnight. The NBA star has hired famed criminal defense attorney Alex Spiro, who told TMZ that the video "speaks for itself."

The video, though it shows the happenings of the incident, does not address what occurred prior to the arrest, how Sefolosha suffered or if police offered medical assistance before the arrest.
