Cari Champion Lands SportsCenter Anchor Gig

ESPN talking head gets big promotion.

Cari Champion is moving up to the big leagues. After years of running interference between Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless on ESPN2's First Take, Champion has been offered a seat at the table as the newest anchor of ESPN's flagship show SportsCenter.
According to TheWrap, Champion will join SportsCenter in mid-July and will work on morning segments on sports and entertainment that will crossover with ABC's Good Morning America (ABC and ESPN are both owned by Disney).

“I grew up watching SportsCenter — it is the flagship show so I am living the dream,” Champion says of her new gig. “When I first started working here, I would casually petition for it — but there’s always a long line."

“On the handful of previous occasions that Cari joined SportsCenter shows, her wit and enthusiasm lit up the set,” Rob King, senior vice president of SportsCenter and news says. “Having her presence on a regular basis is a win not only for audiences watching SportsCenter, but also for all of us who work on the show.”
No doubt Cari will do just fine holding her own at the esteemed SportsCenter desk!
