Report: Jason Pierre-Paul Had His Right Index Finger Amputated

ESPN obtained a medical report which confirms the injury.

The Jason Pierre-Paul fireworks situation is apparently a lot worse than originally reported.

ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted that the New York Giants defensive end had his right index finger amputated on Wednesday, resulting from his Fourth of July fireworks' injury.

This news is even worse than original reports of Pierre-Paul suffering burns on both hands and possible nerve damage.

The Giants came and left South Florida without being able to visit Pierre-Paul in the hospital, also according to ESPN.

Although Coral Springs police didn't charge Pierre-Paul with any crime because the incident was out of their jurisdiction, Pierre-Paul could still be charged if the fireworks he lit are deemed illegal.

Now, though, with the latest news of the amputation, it remains to be seen what the Giants will do with Pierre-Paul. Before the fireworks incident, the team was prepared to give Pierre-Paul a $14.8 million tender as their franchise player. But the amputated finger combined with the fact that the Giants didn't even get to meet with Pierre-Paul could possibly lead to the team releasing the two-time Pro Bowler.
